The adventure will take 3 weeks – we will start the second
week of January (Monday, Jan. 6) and end in the fourth week of January (Friday,
Jan. 24)

The assessment will be given on Monday, Jan. 20
The Flipgrid assignment (“show what you know”) will be due on Friday, Jan. 24
*Note: If there is not enough time in class, some assignments may become homework
Week 1
- Go over website and focus on the mission of this
adventure
- Review website and come back with any questions
about the purpose or assignments on the website
- Go over essential question and assess students’
thoughts and responses to it
- Move into the hook and explain why it will be
important for the students to think about life after high school and more
specifically their professional careers
- Discuss out-of-class assignment with technology: Research Your Career Path

Week 2
- Still working within the hook section of the
site
- Watch Ted Talks video and come prepared with
feedback and whether it or not it changed your career path.
- Look at NCAA’s breakdown of high school and
college student-athletes who go pro in their sport
- Discuss why the percentage of student-athletes who
go pro in their sport is so low
- Students will brainstorm alternative professions
and back-up plans for their future
- Learn more about 3 occupations of interest (each
student)
- Use our websites and materials located on our “Resources”
page
- Use our websites and materials located on our “Resources”

- Discuss unique paths and outcomes of
student-athletes and “show what you know assignment”
Week 3
- Explain what a future reflection is and the
importance of creating it
- Students will draft a future reflection of where
they want to ideally be in five years
- Talk
about in-class assignments and their significance to the adventure
- Mike Mancuso’s Presentations
- Morgan will explain the importance of business
and financial literacy
- In-class assignment: SWOT Analysis of career
path
- Review students’ assignments and reiterate the importance of having a career plan
